Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Bogota Volunteer First Aid Squad.  If you're reading this page, you are quite possibly interested in learning more about the requirements to become a member of our organization.


First and foremost, all of our members are volunteers.  We do not offer any salaried positions. If you were here looking for a paid position, this might be as far as you want to read.  But, if you are interested in volunteering some of your free time to our cause, please continue to read this page.


Prospective Member Information Prospective Member Qualifications

Prospective members must be at least 16 years of age, in good general health, and able to perform the physical activities required of an Emergency Medical Technician.  These activities included, lifting patients (with assistance), running to an emergency, and carrying the life-saving equipment from the ambulance to the patient.

Becoming a member of the Bogota Volunteer First Aid Squad is a three step process -  the application, the interview, and acceptance as a probationary member. The steps are described in more detail below.

When you've decided that you would like to become a member of our organization, the first step is to complete the application and return to one of our officers. The application can be found here.  When you fill out the application, contact one of our officers who will arrange for an interview.

Once the time and date of your interview has been set, we will notify you of the time we are able to meet with you.  You're interview will be conducted by our Membership Committee and/or one of our officers.  Following your interview we will ask the Bogota Police Department to perform the required background check, and when you qualifications have been verified, your application will be scheduled to presentation to the Squad at our next monthly meeting.

When your application has been accepted by the general membership of the Squad, you will begin your probationary period and we will schedule you for upcoming training.  You will be pr emitted to accompany members of the Squad on emergency calls, but purely in the role of an observer, until you have completed your training.

NJ State required NJ-EMT-B program.  These class typical are held two nights a week for approximately 12 weeks, as well as a total of 6 or 7 all-day Saturday classes.  


The cost of your training is covered by the Bogota Volunteer First Aid Squad, so all registration costs associated with your training will be covered by us.


Becoming a Member Step 1 - The Application Step 2 - The Interview

Becoming a full member of the Bogota Volunteer First Aid Squad is perhaps one of the most fulfillng experiences you'll ever share.


As a new member of our organization, you will be a probationary member for the first nine (9) months of your membership. This time will give you a chance to observe the workings of the Squad, and follow along with full members while answering emergency calls.


This time will also give us an opportunity to observe you and determine your qualification for full membership.
